Frosted Peanut Butter Bars

Source: Recipe card from Nancy Hartshorn from Thanksgiving 1994

Ingredients

Bars

1/2 cup oleo
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp burnt sugar flavoring (optional)
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt

Topping

  1. 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  2. 1/2 cup peanut butter
  3. 4 tablespoons milk
  4. 1/4 tsp vanilla or burnt sugar flavoring

Directions

  1. Cream oleo, sugar, and peanut butter.
  2. Add egg, vanilla, and burnt sugar flavoring.
  3. Add dry ingredients and oatmeal.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Press into 9x13 greased pan.
  6. Bake at 350F for 20-25 minutes. Do not overbake.
  7. While hot, sprinkle 1 cup of chocolate chips over the top. Let stand 3-4 minutes, then spread. Can also put it all in the oven for 1 minute and then spread if needed.
  8. Make topping and drizzle over the chocolate chips.
  9. Cut bars into squares while still warm.
